Lead Radiation Shielding Blankets
Almatin’s lead radiation shielding blankets are engineered using high-purity lead wool or solid lead plate, offering flexible and effective protection against X-ray and gamma radiation in controlled environments.
Lead wool is composed of fine, interlaced lead strands ranging from approximately 0.005” to 0.015” in diameter, manufactured in varying lengths to enhance coverage and flexibility. Almatin’s lead wool shielding materials conform to Federal Specification QQ-C-40 Type II, Grade C, ensuring reliable quality and performance.
We can produce shielding blankets made from both lead wool and lead sheet/plate. Lead wool blankets are more pliable than lead sheet blankets.
Lead Plate Blanket
Almatin’s lead plate shielding blankets provide a reliable and flexible solution for X-ray and gamma radiation protection. Manufactured using high-quality lead compliant with Federal Specification QQ-L-201, these blankets are available in custom widths, lengths, and thicknesses to suit varied site requirements.
To enhance durability and usability, the blankets can be finished with PVC or polyurethane laminates, silicone-impregnated fiberglass for high-temperature applications, or Kevlar covers. Optional Velcro securing straps and reinforced grommets ensure secure placement, easy handling, and quick installation in both temporary and permanent shielding setups.
RFID-Enabled Radiation Shielding Solutions
Almatin offers the option to integrate RFID chips into radiation shielding blankets, allowing each unit to be uniquely identified, tracked, and located within your facility or worksite. This enables better control over shielding assets across laboratories, medical facilities, nuclear plants, and industrial environments.
The RFID system can be configured to work with your existing tracking infrastructure, or Almatin can supply dedicated scanners and monitoring systems as part of a complete solution. By automating asset tracking and inventory management, RFID-enabled shielding improves operational efficiency, reduces loss, and ensures compliance with safety and audit requirements.
Lead Snakes
Almatin’s Lead Snakes provide a flexible and effective solution for localized radiation shielding. Available in multiple diameters and lengths, they are ideal for sealing gaps, joints, and irregular spaces where rigid shielding is not practical.
These lead snakes can be finished with PVC laminate, polyurethane laminate, high-temperature silicone-impregnated fiberglass, or Kevlar covers for enhanced durability and easy handling. Each unit features securely stitched ends with a nickel-plated grommet, ensuring reliable placement during installation.
Wheeled Rack - Shielding Blanket Racking Systems
Almatin’s Racking Systems are designed to provide safe, organized, and efficient storage for radiation shielding materials. Each rack stands 6 feet high and 3 feet wide, offering sufficient capacity for multiple blankets and shielding accessories.
The racks are equipped with dual-sided hook rows, with 4-inch spacing between hooks, allowing for proper airflow, easy access, and systematic storage. This design helps extend the lifespan of shielding blankets while keeping work areas clean and compliant.
